7-12 Bands
The combined 7th and 8th grade band at Morgan Junior High School largely focuses on fostering and furthering students' musical knowledge, teamwork, and having fun. By the time 8th grade ends, students are ready to get into some high school-level music! Students often work music by Randall Standridge and from their Essential Elements books. MJHS Band most recently performed at the 2021 Winter Band Concert.
Some students are also able to participate in honor bands. Four students from MJHS recently performed in the District 9 Honor Band over MLK Day weekend.
The MHS Band largely focuses on refining and continuing to expand students' musical skills. Our band performs Class C music at OMEA Large Group Contest and frequently receive "2/Excellent" or "1/Superior" ratings. We received a "2" at the 2022 OMEA District 9 Large Group contest.
Students can opt to perform at District 9 Solo and Ensemble to keep improving on their instrumental technique. Many students are nominated and accepted to honor bands in the region and get to perform intricate, challenging music with other great student-musicians in the region.

Chase Myers,
Director of 5-12 Bands
Mr. Myers is a 2017 graduate of Muskingum University. While at Muskingum he studied Saxophone under Dr. Michael Rene Torres, and was an Assistant Band Director at his Alma Mater, Maysville High School. Following graduation, Myers was hired by Wolf Creek Local Schools to be the Band Director at Waterford High School and Waterford Elementary Schools. He officially became a Raider the summer of 2020 when he accepted the Director of Bands position at Morgan Local Schools. Myers is passionate about music, and passionate about teaching young people life skills through music; his hope is that during his tenure, the band will continue to grow in numbers and in size, and truly be a staple of the community once again.
